In response to the Smithsonian article that we discussed in yesterday’s post, we have recieved several inquiries. Here are answers to a couple of the questions we received.

What type of lab-created diamonds does C5 carry?

C5 carries both HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) and CVD (chemical vapor deposition) lab-created diamonds. Both methods produce diamonds, which are chemically, optically and physically identical to their mined counterparts.

Are lab-created diamonds more expensive?

Pricing of diamonds whether mined or lab-created depends on several factors including size, color, clarity. White lab-created diamonds typically cost the same as a mined diamond. Colored lab-created diamonds (yellow, pink, blue) can be purchased for significantly less than colored mined diamonds.
